East Midlands writer highlights danger of smacking

Added: (Fri Dec 09 2022)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A new author from the East Midlands is highlighting the damage smacking has on children with his debut fantasy novella.
Despite only being 23 years old, Kharn Immins from Leicester has been writing adventure stories for over a decade.
The former charity shop worker has now used all of his previous experience to tell the story of Lucy and her abusive father.
The Journey to the Lost Village is a stunning slice of thought-provoking fiction that will keep readers hooked until the final page.
Kharn, whose favourite authors include J K Rowling and Roald Dahl, said: “I have written many adventure and fantasy short stories in the past and I have gained inspiration from all my previous work to finally publish The Journey to the Lost Village.
“It would be fair to say that this book has been five years in the making.”
The Journey to the Lost Village is a powerful allegory that follows Lucy as she escapes from the firm hand of her father by entering a magical dream world.
From the refuge of her Leicester bedroom, Lucy’s dreams take her to London in search of friendly family members.
During her night time escapism she also travels to a lost city and has an encounter with a witch in this metaphorical masterpiece.
Kharn, who was writing stories before he started school, added: “The Journey to the Lost Village is about a child who faces many issues at home.
“Lucy, who is only six years old, tends to suffer from nightmares as a result of late night snacking by her father.
“To get away from the smacking and the nightmares her dreams begin to take her on an adventure which may provide answers to her problems.
“If only Lucy’s story was so simple – her dad learns of her dreams and plots a way of making money from what she discovers.”
Kharn uses his knowledge of Leicester and London to provide the settings for The Journey to the Lost Village.
Despite a glowing reception for his debut novella, he has no plans to publish a sequel.
