Tube driver takes readers on inspirational journey

Added: (Mon Aug 21 2023)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A London tube driver is offering to transport many of her younger readers to a better future with the publication of her first book.
Doreen Omaghomi, who is the first female train operator from her native hometown of Warri in Nigeria, has just released the thought-provoking guide, Inspirational Values.
Relying heavily on her faith, as well as the strong relationship with her daughter, the 53-year-old has produced an uplifting and memorable debut.
And she hopes that Inspirational Values will provide many of the answers that are needed in today’s high-pressure world.
Doreen, whose favourite authors include Karin Slaughter, Dan Brown and Tim Grover, explained: “Inspirational Values offers advice on how much guidance our children need, the importance of helping others in need, and how to resolve conflicts among families to keep the trust and love.
“It also shows how we can rediscover ourselves, to address our weaknesses, desires and how to go about becoming our best, with God's love in our hearts.
“The bond I have with my daughter has inspired me to write this book because it reflects most of our heart-to-heart conversations - and I feel most parents and children can benefit from this.
“The message to everyone out there is, to discover who you are, remain true to yourself, strive towards becoming role models to friends and family.”
Inspirational Values is reassuringly concise and forthcoming with guidance and hope.
While deeply religious and aimed towards a younger audience, Doreen’s guide still has crumbs of comfort for non-believers and readers of all ages.
Her ability to turn the mundane and ordinary into metaphorical moments of awe and pleasure, will make Inspirational Values a joyous read for everyone.
Doreen admits that much of her inspiration for writing comes from the daily shifts on the various underground lines around the capital.
She added: “I prefer writing poems as I like to express and interpret my emotions at the time.
“I make notes from interesting and amusing events while at work, outdoors and on my way home from work, while the final execution takes place in my bedroom where I feel most comfortable.
“As a train operator, I prefer the dead early shifts that start before 5am and finish around 1pm – this leaves me with the rest of the day to myself, where I indulge in writing.
“My emotions inspire me to write anywhere, anytime - be it in the park full of various scenarios, on buses and trains where I am mostly amused.”
Away from writing, Doreen is one of the faces of The Tube at 150 anniversary video celebration.
And she also enjoys running, having recently completed the Vitality 10,000k.
