Wiltshire granny’s newest mystery book published

Added: (Thu Nov 23 2023)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Wiltshire granny Joan B Pritchard has become something of an expert in luring readers into her own tales of the unexpected.
Since retiring almost a decade ago, the 75-year-old widow has embarked on a surprisingly successful writing career.
Her short story collections tease out the darkest secrets, and most unlikely consequences, of the everyday people you meet in the street.
Joan’s fascination with folklore, historical whodunnits and the supernatural, along with her wicked sense of humour, provides the captivating themes that keep readers coming back for more.
And she’s not letting up, with her latest collection, Ordinary People – Or Are They? being released in the run up to Christmas.
Joan said: “Ordinary People – Or Are They? introduces readers to the ladies of the Wednesday League, who may be frail and old, but they're also feisty and ready to tackle anyone.
“You'll be charmed by their sweet characters, but aghast at what they're capable of.
“Some of the characters you’ll like, others you may not.
“There are ghosts, plenty fantasy, some greed, and also plain evil inside this book – all, of course, for your enjoyment.”
Joan’s latest offering introduces readers to illiterate Katie, who makes up for her struggles with words by adopting an outgoing and friendly approach to others.
Within the pages of Ordinary People – Or Are They? readers also get to meet Sister Allbright, who has based her entire nursing career on her heroine, Florence Nightingale.
And then there’s evil April.
Joan added: “The best thing said about April, is she's not long for this world.
“Not that death removes her from this world - the opposite in fact, and she continues doing her best to annoy those around her.”
Sine publishing her first anthology, Joan has been producing a newly published collection of stories almost every year.
And during the pandemic lockdown, she took full advantage of the additional spare time by releasing two books in both 2020 – Macabre Moments and Tales from the Twilight Zone – and 2021 – Mystery, History and Imagination and Facts, Fiction, Legends and Lies.
When Two Worlds Collide, which includes a fatal coach trip, murders at a Harry Potter exhibition, and a girl who refuses to die, followed at the start of this year.
Needless to say, Joan is currently working on her next short story collection.
