Samarth can be considered fortunate in availing this unique opportunity by getting selected from 29,000+ volunteer applicants countrywide, and the only one selected from the region.
Samarth, who hails from Delhi, shares: “I feel proud on getting involved with FIFA’s first tournament in our country. In fact, I am still not believing myself that I am going to be a part of 211 member associations and the 270 million players, coaches, referees and other participants around the world….these are indeed the great moments of great pride for me. As a journalism student, I am getting such a big-break at an early stage of my career. I wanted to be a sports’ journalist and this international opportunity has added great luster to my profile.”
It is worth noticing that with the recent successes made by Indian sportsmen/women, a massive interest in sports has been regularly growing in India. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi opines that sport activities are now serious career option in India, and students are preferring sports as full-time career.
Congratulating the hard-working journalism student, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed: “The departments at LPU school of Journalism, Film and Television Production are working earnestly to ensure that students get hands on learning experience. Samarth getting so early a break through such a tough competition is indeed a great achievement of the department. Prior to Samarth’s prestigious selection, many other students have also shown sparks of their great talent at Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival Awards (Student Category) many a times, and even got international scholarship to advance their knowledge in the field of their expertise.” Illustrative, FIFA Under-17 World Cup will be played from October 6 to 28, in India, at six venues-Kolkata, Guwahati, Kochi, Navi Mumbai, Goa and New Delhi.
