Leeds Music Legend Collaborates With Audience at Tailor-Made Jazz Night

Added: (Tue Jan 22 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Start the New Year on a high note, as Tailors Gin Bar opens its doors for Sunday ‘Gin n Jazz’ sessions, a monthly event, transporting you back to the roaring twenties. Featuring live swinging jazz, vintage dress-up and the chance to be part of the music, as Leeds music legend, Cleve Frekleton, plays alongside your vocals, in ‘Jukebox Karaoke’. Launching this Sunday 26th January, 4pm at Tailors in Leeds Grand Arcade.

Tailors - Leeds speakeasy-style Tailor shop by day, which flips into a Gin Bar by night, will host swinging jazz tunes played by live musicians, including the renowned Leeds jazz pianist and vocalist Cleve Freckleton, a familiar face in the local music scene, who’s deep husky vocals reminiscent of Louis Armstrong add a whole lot of soul to the menu.

But the musical shenanigans don’t end there. In a unique move, provoked by the immersive spirit of the bar, guests will be invited to join Cleve & friends in a live, vintage style ‘Jukebox Karaoke’ session. Participate in groups, or be the lead vocalist, this is your chance to enjoy jazz by being part of it.

Guests are invited to grab a mic and sing their favourite modern hits, accompanied by professional live jazz musicians. Got a Beyoncé song in mind that would be better suited to a swing vibe? Or ever thought Oasis would sound great done Rat Pack style? Well now’s the chance.

When channeling your inner-jazz-singer, one must look and feel the part - 1920’s themed attire is strongly encouraged at Gin ‘n’ Jazz. As usual, guests will be able to rummage through Tailors’ famous costume rack and dress-up box - full of all the trendiest clothes from the 20s, it contains everything from top hats to faux furs.

Co-owner, and director of The Gentleman’s Tailor, Matthew Wignall commented: “We want people to feel part of something when they step into our bar, we’re creating an experience and environment where you can be who you want to be, and have fun doing it. We are so excited to collaborate with Cleve, and bring a new twist to the Leeds jazz scene.”

Jamila Juma-Ware, co-owner added: “We want people to lose their inhibitions, put their phone’s down, and live in the moment. I cannot tell you how great the feeling is to watch people come in, and friendships start to form amongst groups that came in separately, connecting through the silliness of dressing up, and joining in. Jazz, fancy dress and the gin selection are definitely great conversation starters!”

Tickets are expected to sell fast so book now to avoid disappointment. Gin ‘n’ Jazz begins at 4pm on Sunday January 26th. To get your tickets, which include complimentary Gin Fizz or Teetotal alternative on arrival, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gin-n-jazz-tickets-53393176428

It’s sure to be a fabulous evening of razzmatazz and not one to miss!
