Added: (Tue May 08 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - ASL Environmental Sciences, Sidney, BC Canada announced that it has received an order from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) for a custom version of its Ice Profilerô instrument to be mounted on the MBARI AUV.

This upward looking sonar device will be used to measure ice draft while the AUV is underway underneath the ice. Initial deployment will be in the Arctic this fall.

The Ice Profiler will be used to produce scientific quality ice draft measurements and also to locate appropriate locations for the launch of the AUV data transfer buoys which will transmit data via ARGOS
