The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital played a vital role following the city’s terror attack in May 2017, its world-class major trauma and wider medical teams providing young people from the region with life-saving treatment and support at a time when the nation was in shock.

Founded in 2012 by former professional boxer Glenn Williams, Cheshire White Collar Boxing has become renowned for hosting high-profile fundraising events for various regional charities.

On Saturday March 24th 2018, the organisation’s ‘MAD FOR IT’ white collar boxing evening took place at the Hilton hotel on Manchester’s Deansgate, raising money for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital to help them to continue to provide remarkable medical and support care to children and their families in the north west.

With over 450 people in attendance at the glamourous event that included a champagne reception and three-course black tie dinner, Vehicle Consulting’s managing director, Lee Wolstenholme, contended in the ring for the cruiserweight title.

Following three months of intensive preparations encompassing running, gym sessions and specialist boxing training at Shinny’s Gym in Stockport where Lee regularly spars, the car leasing boss faced opponent Ben Mulroney for his ultimate challenge.

Fighting in front of family, friends and colleagues, Lee was declared the cruiserweight winner in what was a very close contest indeed.

“Ben proved a formidable opponent and it was an honour to have been paired against him following the unprecedented training we’ve both undertaken leading up to this event that is one of the highlights in my personal journey”, Lee comments.

Lee returned to the Vehicle Consulting office on Monday morning bearing some choice bruises, delighted to have played a part in raising funds for such a worthy cause, and he hopes that Cheshire White Collar Boxing’s events and charitable activities will continue to grow over coming months and years.
