Genie-Soft Licenses Sonic Solutions DVD Technology

Pressbox (Press Release) - (October 17, 2004) — Genie-Soft software, developer of novel backup and security solutions, today announced an agreement to license DVD authoring technology from Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ:SNIC), the world's leading supplier of authoring systems for DVD-Video production. The technology that Genie-Soft has licensed from Sonic will serve to strengthen Genie-Soft products’ by enhancing its capability to backup to optical media.

Under the terms of the agreement, Genie-Soft will license Sonic's industry leading AuthorScript™ formatting engine to be integrated into the company’s main backup solution Genie Backup Manager Pro for the month of October, and with other Genie-Soft software titles and future releases in months to come.

The new engine will among other things add Unicode filename support and support for dual layer DVD burners to Genie-Soft’s optical media handling.
