Success factors in plant design and how to keep an overview

However, there are ways and means of maintaining an overview of all the disciplines involved in plant design.

Individual disciplines combine to make a whole
The plant designer’s task is to combine technical components into a fully-functional complete plant system. The various design disciplines and systems form interlocking, sub-plants that integrate various technologically connected sub-systems and components. Only the correct interaction of all the subsystems enables the desired, comprehensive overall plant performance. In this context, each discipline and its systems have different characteristics and interrelationships that must always be taken into account.

Despite the high degree of complexity, this software makes it possible to maintain an overall view of all design disciplines. After all, efficient design is the basis for the economic efficiency and technical performance of a plant. In particular, the early phase of design is crucial and must be supported by appropriate software tools in order to minimise costs in assembly, production and maintenance over the entire plant life cycle.

The tool for integrated plant design
Plant design software is precisely tailored to the challenges of plant construction and is therefore a constant companion to plant engineering projects. This is because it not only offers the possibility of designing a plant involving multiple disciplines in 3D, it can also take all the subsystems into account. In this way, the assembly of the plant can be simulated in time and it can be precisely checked whether, for example, a crane still has enough clearance to place a component in the plant at a certain stage.
