While posting acid rain information fliers in Cooperstown in the early eighties I stopped by the county office building to post on bulletin boards and noticed that they had just installed a bullet proof reception booth check-in where you had to pass through a weapons detection device to access the building.
The Daily Star had a bureau on one of the upper floors so I stopped in to drop off a flier and encountered the editor behind his desk. I introduced myself, what I was doing, and commented on the new building security while handing him a flier which he did not look at. "The new security will offer no protection from a biological attack that could conceivably wipe out entire populations," I said as he assented.
"It seems you have had some exposure to the possibility of some sort of genocide attack," I probed.
