NEW BLOG HELPS STUDENTS GET THE MOST OUT OF UNIVERSITY
Alpha Student (www.alphastudent.com), an innovative new blog launched by two London students, aims to “help students get the most out of their time at university”.
Alpha Student’s unique noticeboard design sets the informal and friendly tone for the site. The daily blog posts, which take a realistic look at student life, cover academic issues, practical advice, money worries, career planning and personal development – as well as chill-out ideas.
In the first week, posts covered “Feeling shy?”, “Research anything in ten minutes”, “Two ring cookery”, “Never miss an essay deadline” and more.
The creators of the blog, Ali Hale and Paul David Luke, have a wealth of student experience, covering undergraduate, mature student, postgraduate, full-time and part-time studies.
Ali, editor of Alpha Student, said: “I spent most of my first year as an undergraduate at Cambridge finding my feet and getting to grips with university life. We’ve created Alpha Student to help students have a fun, successful and positive time at university.
“Our aim is to use our own experiences – and mistakes – to pass on useful tips and advice. We’re very keen to build up a community around Alpha Student, and always encourage readers to leave comments on posts and send in their own ideas.”
Ali has a BA in English from Cambridge University, and is studying a part-time MA in Creative & Life Writing at Goldsmiths College, London. Paul is a mature student in his second year of a full-time Politics & Law BA at London Metropolitan University.
