Composer Quentin Budworth of the 'SOUNDWORKING' organisation is undertaking a 10 week residency at the Beverley Youth Club on Burden Road. The residency available for 7-11 year olds is based on computer music composition. Youngsters are writing, and producing their own dance and pop songs. The residency is sponsored by the Performing Rights Society Foundation who are actively encouraging young people to create their own music.
The youth workers have seen a remarkable transformation in the children who are very enthusiastic and motivated by the project. SOUNDWORKING PROFILE
The key members and writers of SOUNDWORKING are Amanda Lowe and Quentin Budworth. They have a long and successful track record as musicians, workshop leaders and record producers. Over the last fifteen years they have toured throughout the U.K., Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Eastern Europe and Japan. They are both multi-instrumentalists and are highly regarded as leading practitioners in the genres of world fusion; medieval; world; dub reggae; dance; ambient and folk music. Amanda Lowe and Quentin Budworth are both qualified teachers and have successfully led many workshops and music based residencies.
Amanda Lowe - Vocals, Hammer Dulcimer, Bagpipes, Penny Whistle and is also responsible for music programming.
Quentin Budworth - hurdy-gurdy, Keyboards, Bagpipes, Shawm, Low Whistle, Cittern; and is responsible for music programming and music technology.
Quentin Budworth and Amanda Lowe are the writing team behind world dance band ‘Celtarabia’ and are Yorkshire and Humberside musicians in residence. Quentin Budworth and Amanda Lowe have produced six albums, two of which were produced in their studio using computer technology.
