FabulaTech announced release of Ethernet Modem 2.0

Added: (Mon Sep 29 2008)

United Kingdom – Liverpool – FabulaTech, one of the major software development companies which provides solutions in USB и Serial device virtualization area serving the needs and demands of its customers worldwide announced release of Ethernet Modem 2.0. Major update: Support of sending/receiving faxes added.

“If you don’t want to pay for each call especially for international phone calls, if you want to get rid of busy phone line and hardware each time you want to establish modem connection and are really pissed off by low-speed phone connections, then Ethernet Modem is the perfect solution for you”, says Alan Rurke, one of the software developers.

Ethernet Modem allows any modem communications applications to interact via LAN or the Internet. Application "dials" remote IP address instead of making a dial-direct call using hardware modem. Moreover, it looks as if the application worked with hardware modem. But in fact, a hardware modem is not used.

“Ethernet Modem allows you to create and use virtual modems instead of hardware modems. At that network connection (LAN or the Internet) is used for data exchange instead of phone lines”, comments William York, one of the software developers. “Application A on local computer "makes a call" using ethernet modem #1. Ethernet modem #1 on local computer connects to ethernet modem #2 on remote computer over the network. Ethernet modem #2 accepts network connection and initiate "incoming call" for application B. Application B reacts on "incoming call" from ethernet modem #2 as if it was real incoming call initiated by hardware modem”.

This solution is meant to ease life in the following ways:

Automatically network-enables modem communications applications without software changes.
No charges for phone calls.
Neither phone line nor modem required.
Speed is far higher then hardware modems have.
Location-independent. Virtual Modem can be used anywhere in the world where Internet access is available.
You can limit network access to your virtual modem using any firewall software.

“We received a great feedback from our customers and in this program we implemented all up-to-date virtualization technologies to ease every-day tasks people face”, says Andrew Scott, company’s general manager.

Program’s general features:
Virtual modems look and work like real hardware modems
Applications use virtual modems directly from virtual serial ports or through TAPI
Up to 256 virtual modems can be created
Virtual modems can "dial" to remote virtual modems using IP address (or computer name) and TCP-port instead of phone number
Virtual modems can accept "incoming calls" from other virtual modems
Phone book. It allows you to simplify switch to virtual modems from hardware modems. You can specify telephone number corresponding to IP address (or computer name) and TCP-port of remote virtual modems.
Once created virtual modems are operable at each system startup (even prior to user login)

Compatibility:
Support of main AT commands
Support of main S-registers
