Propylon’s Mission Control™ Deployed to Facilitate and Support
Added: (Mon Jul 15 2002)
Propylon, the XML solutions and service provider announced today, another successful implementation of its Mission Control™ Pervasive Portal Server technology for O2 Ireland. O2 Ireland is part of the international mobile communications group, mmO2 plc.
Mission Control met the challenge of engineering O2 Ireland’s portal service to provide customers with a single access point to O2 services irrespective of the device being used to access the service, as well as supporting the introduction of the new O2 brand which was launched in May.
Propylon’s Mission Control™ solution utilises the XML standard as a method for defining device neutral content and delivers the ability to create applications and services by O2 Ireland, which they then deliver to their customers. Using Mission Control, O2 can now detect the type of device accessing the sites and renders the content to that device in a personalised and optimised manner- providing a true multi-channel portal and a memorable user experience.
Moving forward, the implementation of Mission Control solution will also facilitate and enable the rapid creation and delivery of new applications and services by O2 over GPRS and 3G.
With such a popular site, performance was an issue and the emphasis on getting the changeover completed in as little time as possible, was of paramount importance to O2 Ireland. Propylon was called on to deliver service-critical functionality, and succeeded in implementing the solution in less than six weeks.
Propylon’s reputation of working successfully in a niche technology space, where skilled expertise is required, was reinforced throughout the project.
Colm Codd, O2 Ireland Portal Manager, commented: “Propylon demonstrated an excellent working relationship with us. Their professionalism and technical expertise ensured the transition from Digifone Online to O2 was seamless. With their help, we could get down to business and work on improving the portal service for our customers, without having the additional worry of technical issues throughout the changeover. Their ability to work to such demanding timeframes was outstanding”.
