BBC1 Breakfast TV: Jokers' Masquerade Fancy Dress Overcomes Royal Mail Postal Strike For Halloween

Added: (Thu Oct 22 2009)

21st October 2009, Newbury, UK. BBC1 Breakfast TV reporters spent the morning at Jokers' Masquerade in anticipation of the proposed strike by Royal Mail, planned for Thursday and Friday.

Online retailers are going to be the hardest hit over the next few days and the BBC were keen to investigate how businesses with national distribution were reacting to the news.

Jokers' Masquerade's Director of Operations, Rob Hamilton-Day, gave a tour of their warehouse and explained what contingency plans were in place for the proposed strike:
“Jokers' Masquerade have suspended all services with Royal Mail and have moved their delivery service to City Link to ensure customers get their costumes in time for Halloween. The good news is that this service will be at no extra cost to our customers.”

Rob Hamilton Day went on to discuss how Jokers' Masquerade was going to be hit financially by the strike and that they were going to review their long-term delivery strategy to avoid similar problems in the future.

The strike couldn't have come at a worse time for Jokers' Masquerade with over 3 months worth of sales anticipated in the 2 weeks leading up to Halloween! However, they are confident that the contingency plans in place will ensure their customers receive all their goods before Halloween at no extra cost.
