MONT BLANC TREK
NEXT DEPARTURE 16th JUNE FROM CHAMONIX

Peregrine Adventures’ 8-day trek around France’s highest peak, Mont Blanc, is full of surprises, grandiose landscapes and spectacular alpine scenery. Next tour departs Chamonix 16th June 2008.

Peregrine’s trek follows in the path of Savoyard pedlars who crossed the Alps’ mountain passes to sell ribbons, materials and fabrics to their neighbours in Switzerland and Italy. A shared history and dialect (Franco-Provençal patois) link these mountain people in this corner of Europe. A stroll it isn’t, but when the going gets tough walkers are amply rewarded by majestic mountain vistas spanning three countries. Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in Western Europe (4,807m), a majestic and sovereign peak that overshadows the mountain town of Chamonix. Chamonix itself has been a climbing and skiing centre for over 100 years and is considered the mountaineering capital of Europe. An exploration of the surrounding valleys introduces walkers to the intricacies of the region – from the Beaufortain foothills, where the eponymous Beaufort d´Alpage cheese is produced, to the softer landscapes of the Swiss Ferret Valley, with its tiny mountain huts and colourful wildflower meadows.

The tour costs £995 p/p including transport on tour, hotel and mountain hut accommodation, most meals, sightseeing as per itinerary, services of a Peregrine tour leader and expert mountain guiding. Flights are not included
Chamonix can easily reached by fast train (TGV) from Paris or by Easyjet flight to Geneva and bus transfer (see www.alpybus.com).
