TOYS FOR THE PATIENTS OF PEANUT WARD, QUEEN VICTORIA HOSPITAL
Added: (Mon Jan 19 2004)
Just before Christmas, a Carol Service was held in the home of Rev.
Laura Wilks in aid of the child patients in the Queen Victoria Hospital
- accompanied by Kate Simmons of Forest Row at the piano. 20 of Rev.
Wilks' friends, relatives and neighbours attended. Rev. Wilks is an
ordained minister of the Church of Scientology. The attendees not only
sang their hearts out but also donated a big sackful of toys to the
children which were later handed over to the Peanut Ward by Father
Christmas.
The Peanut Ward nurse who accepted the toys was delighted to receive
them and said that some toys would be able to be saved for "the magic
cupboard" for needy times during the year.
Now in its second year, this has become an annual event. "We are
really happy to be able to bring a little joy into the lives of the
children in the hospital, especially to those who have to remain there
over the Christmas period" said Rev. Wilks.
