$1600 roof insulation free of charge to Australian households

Added: (Fri Oct 16 2009)

The Australian Government recently announced an " Energy Efficient Homes Package " which provides for the installation of roof and ceiling insulation in all Australian homes so as to make them more energy efficient to help the climate , but also to boost the economy and to create jobs.

This practical step will help households reduce their energy use, cut their power bills by around $200 a year, and increase the comfort and value of their homes.

But installers in Australia are frustrated by the enormous interest and orders for the countries 1 million households and 23 million people that they are having trouble fulfilling.

One Sydney installing company said that they had over 400 orders , but " we just cannot get the material ". The demand is so high.

One supplier of materials , Daniel Yliche of Insulation Batts Australia [ http://www.insulationbattsaustralia.com.au ] commented that Australian factories were simply unable to increae production to meet the demand.

"We have hundreds of installers seeking truck loads of material to the required Australian standards and we have had to turn to the US and China manufacturers to supply. Luckily we have good contracts in place and even so , we struggle to keep up with demand. When we tradesmen call us we sell them material by the container load" , he said.

When Australia's leading radio station 2UE interviewed Daniel Yliche recently he was inundated with callers wanting the insulation.

Part of the reason for the huge demand is people seeking instalation before this years predicted hot summer , when air conditioning costs will sky rocket the home bill.

And no wonder there's demand with $1600 worth of free material at stake. How much is that going to save households and cost the Aussie Government !!
