Crystal Reference launch CRISP new idea in content
London, UK., 12 February 2002 —
Crystal Reference has launched a new and innovative concept in content delivery. Called CRISPs (Crystal Reference Information Supply Packs), these products will provide segmented data of essential facts and issues relating to a person, place, topic, or event.
Significant investment of in excess of £3 million has been made in the development of the content databases supporting CRISP with over eight million words of text including descriptions, biographies and illustrations. CRISP entries are convenient, succinct, and accessible and can be personalized to suit individual client interests. The data can also be updated regularly to reflect changes.
The content can be served in a wide variety of data formats including XML and can be used for a wide variety of purposes including subject related microsites or used as a general theme.
The latest CRISP release is a package relating to Commonwealth Games 2002. The comprehensive package includes the history and background of the Games as well as providing information relating to the individual events and disciplines, world records, past medal winners and much, much more.
Other Crisp concepts in development and available in February 2002 include the World Cup and the Queen's Golden Jubilee. General topics such as Valentine’s Day and Easter are also in preparation.
Crystal Reference Managing Director, Ian Saunders commented," The CRISP concept is the brainchild of our editor Professor David Crystal and his team. In creating these packages, we are giving the content marketplace what they have been asking for with focussed, high quality content at an affordable price. We have an almost limitless ability to create the CRISP packages about virtually any subject or topic."
Crystal Reference will continue to develop further products of this nature from among the subject headings of Arts and Culture, Business, Geography, History, Language, Society, Science, Sports, Religion, Politics, Natural History and Space.
