Gleeds Get Sir Steve back in the Water

Added: (Thu Oct 02 2008)

Richard Steer, Senior Partner at Gleeds, managed to tempt the Olympic legend and Gleeds Ambassador Sir Steve Redgrave onto the water once more when he attended a reception at the Little Britain Sailing Regatta in Cowes last week.

With boats from Gleeds’ Nottingham and London offices competing against over 200 other teams in the three day regatta, Sir Steve joined in the action from a rib, weaving between the competing boats while filming for Gleeds’ own TV station, Gleeds TV. During the evening, Gleeds hosted a pontoon-based reception for the crews of all boats that had competed in what is the biggest event of its kind in the UK.

Talking to Gleeds TV, Sir Steve commented on the size of the event and said "I am more used to holding a set of oars than hoisting up a sail but this is a fantastic event in aid of some very worthy charities, including the paralympic sailing team”.

Other guests attending the Gleeds function included past president of the RIBA, Jack Pringle, and Harold Cudmore, the internationally famous yacht master who sailed the Americas Cup with Sir Steve Redgrave on board twenty years ago!
