Glover Seals Grand Slam of Golf

Added: (Thu Oct 22 2009)

Lucas Glover, the American golfer, performed brilliantly to win the 2009 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Port Royal Golf Course, Bermuda, as he beat Angel Cabrera by 5 shots, the biggest victory since 2005 when Tiger Woods beat Phil Mickelson by 7 shots.

The annual golf competition brings together the winners of the Masters, US Open, British Open and US PGA Championship for a 2-day golf competition, in which the winning golfer earns $600,000 (£361,514).

Glover scored a Port Royal Golf Club course record of 65 to take a 2-shot lead over fellow American and Nike golfer Stewart Cink into the 2nd day of golf, and Cink applied early pressure with 4 birdies on the front 9 of the golf course. However, Cink scored 3 bogeys and a double bogey on the back 9 to drop out of contention and finish 6 shots off the pace. Glover performed superbly after an early bogey, with 7 birdies on the final day of golf, finishing on 11-under-par.

In his golf bag, Glover had an array of Nike Golf equipment, including Nike SQ Sumo2 Driver, Nike fairway woods, Nike CCi Irons, Nike SV Tour Wedges, Nike putter, and Nike One Tour D golf balls.

Glover also looked the part on the golf course, wearing Nike Air Zoom Elite II golf shoes, and a rage of Nike polo shirts, Nike golf trousers, and Nike caps.
