Hundreds Of Companies Alerted By Techstreet Standards TrackingHundreds Of Companies Alerted By Techs

Added: (Sun Mar 24 2002)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – March 25, 2002 – Techstreet (www.techstreet.com), the online technical information store for engineers, scientists, and corporate librarians, today announced that they have helped over 750 companies monitor 6,000-plus industry standards and specifications with their new Standards Tracking Service. There is no charge for the alert service, and it includes over 100,000 national and international specifications.

Registered users at www.techstreet.com create and edit personal lists of published standards from Techstreet’s database. Techstreet then monitors the documents and sends change alerts via
e-mail. Once users receive notification, they can search, order and download the updated documents through Techstreet's secure e-commerce system. Standards are available from dozens of industry publishers such as ASTM, ISO, API, IEEE, ASME, and CSA.

"Techstreet's service makes it easy to comply with ISO requirements,” states Ken Gibson, an engineer at Corning and Tracking Service user. “With little effort, we maintain current standards and have documentation to prove it."

Standards are constantly changing and outline the safety, performance and design criteria for products and services in virtually every industry. Companies adhere to the most current editions to ensure competitiveness, compatibility and to limit their liability. Incorporating an outdated specification can have severe consequences including lost project time and injury to a product's end user.

“Since our Standards Tracking was implemented in the fall of 2001, we have seen site sessions increase by 28%, states Gregg Hammerman, Techstreet President. “We know we are giving our customers a valuable and cost-effective service.”
