Native Networks launches core products – EtherMux-M, EtherNT and NativeView at LightSpeed Europe 2001, Stand 520

4th December 2001, London, UK – Native Networks, developer of innovative Ethernet over SDH/SONET solutions for the metro access network, announced today the launch of its carrier class, metro optical access platform, which comprises the EtherMux-M Add/Drop statistical multiplexer, EtherNT access and point to point CPE device, together with NativeView, an integrated, service-aware network management system. Unveiled for the first time in Europe at this year’s LightSpeed Europe event, the products create highly cost effective, end to end solutions specifically designed to allow carriers to fully exploit their investments in existing SDH/SONET based infrastructure. With these products, carriers can both protect revenue streams generated by voice services, and at the same time, over the same infrastructure, deliver innovative, service-rich, profitable data services to their enterprise customers.

By enabling the carrier class deployment of Ethernet technology into the wide area network, and extending the lifespan of SDH/SONET, Native Networks has devised a reliable, low cost solution for carriers that are looking to deliver high bandwidth, data centric services to enterprise customers, without forgoing profitable revenues that continue to be generated through voice services. The solution equips carriers to offer value added, fully managed services direct to their customers, meeting business needs such as Ethernet connectivity over the wide area, and secure VPNs. These services are complimented with new facilities such as Class of Service choices including SLA compliance and verification, the real-time provisioning of bandwidth, the real-time configuring of VPNs and more.

CEO of Native Networks, Steve Harbour commented “We are giving carriers new reasons to focus and accelerate their investments for metro solutions – we have the world’s lightest and smartest platforms – a 3U sized EtherMux-M box can fully equip a complete MTU basement with managed voice and data solutions for the next 3-5 years, no matter what new data protocols emerge. The service innovations – in particular the Layer 2 VPNs and real-time provisioning applications – give carriers new reasons to go to their targeted enterprise customers.”

Harbour continued, “Following very successful technical and service trials with Storm Telecommunications, we have demonstrated that our EtherMux-M, EtherNT and NativeView products are now fully mature and are ready to be taken to the market. “

The EtherMux-M is a carrier switch that enables carriers to serve more customers over the same infrastructure. A highly efficient, multi service traffic aggregation device, the EtherMux-M unifies voice, data and video in one transport infrastructure, whilst supporting full QoS and SLA per customer. A key application of the EtherMux-M is its ability to connect geographically dispersed sites. Utilising Native Networks’ technology, it is now economically viable for carriers to offer end-end remote site connectivity via Ethernet.

The EtherNT, a low cost, ultra compact access device deployed at the customer premises incorporates traditional TDM and Ethernet interfaces to enable carriers to offer their customers both legacy TDM services and connectivity to new IP-based services, over carrier-grade optical infrastructures. NativeView, an advanced network management system (NMS) is integrated with both the EtherNT and EtherMux-M to provide carriers with the ability to offer their customers fast service provisioning, and simple remote management capabilities, all without the need for costly truck-rolls. Carriers can now fully monitor and control the network and services, and respond quickly to customers’ changing bandwidth requirements.

Part of the Native Networks NativeMux product family, the EtherMux-M and EtherNT products are carrier class transport equipment, which enable the delivery of all layer 2 data protocols, as well as legacy TDM circuits in their native form over the same optical infrastructure. The products feature Ethernet over SONET/SDH with 10/100Mbps and GBE interfaces and TDM interfaces ranging from T1/E1 to OC3/STM1 and OC12/STM4. Coupled with the NativeView service-aware Network Management System, the EtherMux-M and EtherNT, incorporate unique patented traffic management algorithms, that provide carriers with a large variety of connectivity services with verifiable, per customer SLA and QoS. Since the Native product family provides standard voice and data interfaces at the enterprise and PoP sites, the full range of products is compatible with industry-leading platforms both upstream such as Sorrento and LuxN’s range of Metro Core solutions and downstream aggregation solutions.

Notes to Editors:

EtherMux-M

EtherMux-M is an innovative Add/Drop statistical Multiplexer (AdsM) for the access network. EtherMux-M enables carriers to efficiently transport a wide range of services with the support of intelligent Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms. It features:
· Efficient provisioning of native T1/E1 circuit switched services over the access network
· MPLS based traffic engineering
· Survivability
· Integrated network management capabilities

EtherNT

EtherNT, is a low cost, compact device which extends the carriers’ optical network to the customer premises at an economically viable rate. A member of the NativeMux product family, it serves as the ideal bridging unit between the carrier’s low cost, high bandwidth supply capabilities and enterprise customers’ demands for affordable, high bandwidth, IP based services. The EtherNT features:
· Legacy TDM Support – supports four versatile E1/T1 interfaces.
· IP Services Support – provides one full﷓bandwidth 10/100BaseT auto-sensing interface.
· Remote Management – the EtherNT is managed by NativeView, enabling remote performance monitoring, service adjustments and diagnostics.
· Plug﷓and﷓Play Installation – the EtherNT can be turned on, and begin providing services, in a matter of minutes utilizing web-based installation and commissioning tools.

NativeView

NativeView’s network-wide management concept provides a view not just of network elements, but of the entire network. All functions, including alarm management and provisioning, are managed at the network level, providing easy, efficient and intelligent control over the entire network. It features:
· Easy provisioning, Rapid Service Set up
· Remote changes and Monitoring
· Automatic Topology Detection
· Performance Monitoring
· Alarms and maintenance management
