No matter your needs, there's a smartphone OS for you!

Added: (Wed Jul 01 2009)

Let's check out the three frontrunners in the war of the smartphone operating systems: WebOS, Windows Mobile, and Symbian.

Palm Pre - the sleek one

So, representing Symbian, you have the Sony Ericsson Idou, with its double-hit combo of astounding camera and music. Flying the flag for Windows Mobile, there's the Toshiba TG01, with astonishing power and an immense screen. But we're discussing interfaces here, and one phone beats both of these powerhouses hands down: the groundbreaking Palm Pre. You see, the Palm Pre is built on an entirely custom interface called WebOS, that is easily the slickest, most intuitive interface that's ever been released. With intuitive gesture controls and finger sweeps for EVERY action on the phone, the Palm Pre also brings in tight integration between its apps. Book a cinema ticket on one app, and the Palm Pre automatically updates your calendar with the time. Multitask many different apps, and watch the Palm Pre run without any effort or lag. In the world of interfaces, essentially, the Palm Pre just cannot be beaten!

Toshiba TG01

Windows Mobile, though, goes down a different route. You see, Windows Mobile needs two things to run at its best: a powerful processor and a big display. Well, say hello to the Toshiba TG01, the phone with the fastest processor AND the biggest display in the history of phones! Weighing in at 1GHz and 4.1 inches respectively, those specs mean that the Toshiba TG01 will run Windows Mobile more smoothly than any other phone in existence; as well as that with that immense screen, the Toshiba TG01 makes drilling down into menus, and actually getting into the internals of Windows, so much easier. If power is your thing (and lets be honest, who doesn't want a powerful phone?), then the Toshiba TG01 is the phone for you!

Samsung i8910 HD

On the one hand, there's the Palm Pre, with its awesome WebOS interface. And on the other, there's the Toshiba TG01, with bags of processing power. And then, there's the Samsung i8910 HD, and it has one big advantage over the other two. Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not...), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It's very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Combine that with the sumptuous 3.7 inch screen, and a huge 8Gb of internal memory, and it's very clear that the Samsung i8910 HD is the one to go for if you want the best camera phone.
