SWISSRISK TO OFFER MOBILE INTERNET
FINANCIAL TOOLS WITH IBM
La Gaude, France. November 15, 2001. Financial institutions will soon be able to access sophisticated risk and portfolio management tools over mobile Internet devices, as a result of an agreement beween IBM and Swissrisk announced today.
Swissrisk, a leading provider of Internet-based interactive and integrated risk and portfolio management tools, will use the ASP model to enable financial institutions to develop, manage and deliver professional financial tools for online investors and employees via cellular handsets and PDAs over WAP, GPRS and UMTS. IBM’s WebSphere Everyplace Server will ensure seamless integration of Swissrisk-based applications into ASPs' financial services portfolio.
Dr Thomas Wolfensberger, Chief Executive Officer of Swissrisk, said: “By working with IBM, Swissrisk will enable financial institutions to access sophisticated financial tools for use on their Intranet sites, Web sites and mobile commerce platforms. It is a big step in bringing professional financial information and analysis to a wider audience and a major advance in driving wireless e-business applications such as stock trading and mobile banking.”
Swissrisk will be the first company worldwide to provide these financial tools as an ASP, allowing its customers to integrate applications onto their own platforms quickly and easily – without the need for large-scale software integration and maintenance. Swissrisk tools enable far more sophisticated analytical capability than is currently available over existing portal services. For example, they can calculate the outcome of various market scenarios and can identify when a portfolio is exposed.
“Increasing complexity and volatility in financial markets has led to significant demand for pervasive access to concise, personalised financial information and analysis tools,” said Simon Dyson, Vice President, Communications Sector, IBM EMEA.
“This agreement with Swissrisk will give users wireless access to some of the most sophisticated financial tools available, putting them on an equal footing with desktop users. Using WebSphere Everyplace Suite as the middleware platform of choice means that customers can scale services quickly and securely, adding users as demand for this type of application grows.”
As an IBM Partnerworld member, Swissrisk will participate in joint global marketing activities with IBM and will enjoy hosting services and local support provided by IBM.
