Your Communications expands the role of NetKit Solutions OSS products

Convergence of OSS and Telemetry
Your Communications, formerly Norweb Telecom, has reinforced its commitment to NetKit Solutions by selecting the new ACP (Access Communications Platform) Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) enabled products to extend the reach of their Operational Support Systems (OSS) network strategy. The new products will complement the previously installed base of ACP equipment operating in the network since 1997.
Your Communications, a national telecommunications network operator based in the North-West of England, will firstly provision the ACP products to fulfil the OSS functions vital to effectively deploy and manage the expansion of their Voice, DATA and Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) networks.
As a router-protocol mediator, interconnecting the various network infrastructure elements, the ACP plays a crucial role in enabling the Operation, Administration Maintenance and Provisioning (OAM&P) of network elements within Your Communications national fibre optic backbone network
Your Communications will leverage the new SCADA capability of the ACP to broaden its role for extending the coverage of OAM&P strategies to embrace building and environmental monitoring apparatus.
Furthering the OSS strategy by expanding the role of SNMP to incorporate OAM&P and Telemetry applications
“We needed a single integrated solution to realize our management strategy of unifying all of our OSS elements under a common Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) network management platform”, says Keith Alder, Network Planning Manager.
